dudedad, I had to meet a client at Starbucks at 5pm and guess what was playing when I entered the store - the Amy Winehouse/Tony Bennett duet. Pretty weird.

The voice in this piece is Barbara Bonney (don’t be fooled by the title). Her Ave Maria is one of the most beautiful versions I’ve heard (even better than Anna Netrebko’s):

Saha Cohen used this music in one of her dance routines:

(jym can possily translate what the little girl says in the middle of the video :), but apparently she says, “Auntie Olga, why are your crying?”)

Have you heard “The House That Built Me” by Miranda Lambert? Very touching.

“Don’t Give Up” - a Peter Gabriel song sung in duet with Kate Bush:

^^Thank you, coureur! Bookmarked. One of my favorites.

^^I agree. Plus, Kate’s subtle changes in facial expression on the video add to the effect of the beautiful music, especially when she’s singing the bridge that begins at 2:46.

I’ve always thought one of the “prettiest” songs both musically and spiritually is Dan Fogelberg’s Nether Lands. Haunting and yet soaring. Just one of those, holy cow, how does someone write all of that (and in his case, play alot of the instrumentation as well). Pure genius.

I have been a die-hard S&G fan since their first album, so I have many favorites, but I think the Live 1969 version of Bridge is mind-blowing. First, they have to introduce it to the audience because it’s a new, unreleased song. Second, the Wrecking Crew is the back-up for them at this point and the recording is just Art and Larry Knechtel on piano.
Third, the vocal is flawless, absolutely flawless. Fourth, the audience is stunned for a nanosecond at the end because they realize that they have just been transformed. I actually like it better than the studio version. You never even hear him take a breath!

PIMP by Fiddy Cent. A little old school for sure, but i love the lines:

I had the the good fortune to see S&G live during this same tour (possibly this self-same concert), and it was indeed great. Art Garfunkel sang it standing all alone under spotlights on an otherwise dark stage. Paul Simon was out of sight offstage somewhere. The reason the audience pauses at the end of the song is none of us had heard the song before and weren’t entirely sure it was over. Then once we realized it was finished everyone immediately leaped to their feet for a standing ovation.

Two more beautiful Dan Fogelberg songs.
