is there a time when you got what you wanted and it wasn't what you wanted

just wondering :)

Yeah.

I wanted the Jets to pick up some good talent this off season. Check. Now we have a bunch of criminals.

sex

I’m assuming you mean “it wasn’t what you expected.” You can’t get what you want and have it not be what you wanted… that’s violating the rules of space and time.

Hey, Bush went to Yale.

Ah here’s a good answer to the OP: Verizon FiOS. I wanted super fast, super reliable internet. Instead I got super fast, only kind of reliable internet. Right now it’s on the bad side of reliable. It’s worse than god damn DSL at the moment actually. It makes streaming Netflix a pain.

manhattan75, maybe the 2010 Jets will be like the '86 Mets.

We can hope.

@DCHurricane

thats a good one but i don’t know how to write about that, and make 500 words.
any ideas? lol

The 2010 Jets will have more interceptions than the rest of the AFC East combined. Rex and his CBs… Like, I cannot recall a team in this decade that has had such a dominant secondary. More pressure on keeping the inmates on Revis Island this year as QB’s will be pressured away from Cromartie as well.

well fiddlesticks.

Times in Alix’s life when she got something and it wasn’t what she expected or wanted:

4th grade, convinced mom to buy a teddy bear hamster. damned thing had a dozen babies and I swear it ate one. I was scarred for life!

middle school, first kiss at school dance. I went in expecting it would be romantic, but it was sloppy and icky and i saw him picking his nose later by the water fountain

I really wanted a mac and my parents bought me one, but it turned out i preferred PC (returned it and saved some money)

11th grade, someone convinced me I would look fantastic as a brunette; the chocolate brown color the stylist gave me made me look like some pasty middle school goth girl. I went back to my golden blonde roots and all was swell again

Today at NYU strawberry festival, I waited in a realllly long line for a slice of strawberry shortcake, and the guy gave me a huge slice because I giggled at his strawberry joke but it didn’t taste as good as i anticipated and I got sunburned waiting in line

Oh, and haha this was the joke:
What did one strawberry say to the other?
If you weren’t so fresh, we wouldn’t be in this jam! :P

lol @alix
i needed that laugh!! thanks!

i writing about when i was 13 and i wanted vtech learning laptop because i thought i was intellectual and it would match my personality. but when i got i played and completed all the games on it with three days.

is that a good one?

^ no. you make yourself sound snobbish with that one.

omg are you serious!!!
should i not mention the part where i thought i was intellectual?

uh yes…

should i take the part out about me being intellectual?

Maybe, probably wouldn’t fix it though - the whole story sounds a bit snobbish.

blah, cc is so not fun. toodles.

honestly, here’s what I’d do if I were applying to this college: I’d write a story about one of the situations i mentioned, or any random funny “regrettable” moment and make it into a laugh-out-loud satire. The way i figure, admissions counselors read thousands of boring ass stories a day about how some kid from Wisconsin built birdhouses as part of his habitat-for-parakeets club or whatever. if you’re a good writer and storyteller, you could pull this off, and come across as unique and fresh.

well, for my college essay i wrote about how I took a gel candle-making class in a 3rd world country in Africa where I didn’t speak the language, and the whole thing was a comical piece…I got into schools like johns hopkins, cornell, and other top 30 colleges with scholarships…but idk about your particular college.

just a thought. however, don’t do this if you’re not 100% comfortable.

uhhh!! ■■■
i can’t write to save my life.
thats why i try to avoid college that require essays.
