I thought it would be helpful given the essay prompt for this year.

Where have they released the new essay prompt?

hi
im a current student at Penn, or well I will be in August. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a PM and you can ask me all the questions you want. This applies to anyone!

Instead of contacting students, who might not know a lot about the things you’re interested in, you might want to go take a look at Penn’s website. They have a directory for all sorts of extracurriculars. Also, take a look at the department page for the major you’re thinking of.

My year’s (2016) essay was something like “how do you see yourself fitting in academically and socially on campus?” and I just sat down in front of the directory and pulled out like 6 that I could have seen myself doing and wrote about them. That’s the easiest way to show them that you actually looked into Penn and didn’t just use the same essay as you did for all your other schools.

There are a few of us floating around on CC, that would probably be the easiest way.

I don’t know if I agree with leelenini. I doubt that the purpose of the essay is to demonstrate that you once googled “penn extracurriculars.”

If you do have questions about campus life, I’ll also be a penn student this coming fall.
