Is there a way to get cash on a Sunday?

I need $8000 to buy a used car tomorrow. The car is nearly 3 hours away, so we are hoping to avoid having to make a deposit and then go back down later in the week to pay balance and pick up the car.

We have plenty of money in our bank accounts of plenty of credit available on our credit card. Is there any way to get that much cash on a Sunday?

It depends on you bank! Some are open on Sundays.

Can you put it on your credit card and then pay it off immediately next week?

Bank isn’t open on Sunday, or this would not be an issue. And, it’s a private seller, so he doesn’t want to take a credit card.

Only a few banks are open on Sunday (and some of those only have grocery store locations open on Sunday).

Check whether the bank where you have the money is one of them.

How about using PayPal?

I think some of those check cashing places are open on Sunday and could cash a check and/or give you an advance on a credit card. Not sure what their limits are. It’s also an expensive way to access $$.

Or Venmo?

You are driving 3 hours to pay CASH for a car? On a Sunday? Bad idea. You can’t check that the title is good, you can’t complete the transaction before this person and your $8000 are long gone. There is a reason why car dealerships are closed on Sundays in most states (the DMV being closed is just one of them).

Find out if any markets in your area have banks open on Sunday, and find out if any of your family or friends have money in them and are willing to cash you a check tomorrow. There is a bank at our local Safeway and CVS that is a branch of my bank. It is open on Sundays. I would cash a check for family or friend to give him cash on Sunday.

Be sure you make the purchase somewhere public and safe, like at the police department. If worse comes to worse, perhaps you have to make two trips.

I believe WalMart cashes checks–but has a fairly steep service fee and may have a cap on how much they will cash. I’d carefully check the fees at the check cashing places–they may be much higher than you realize.

Venmo?

@twoinanddone: we already know it is a clean title. That is not the issue.

Google the name of your bank plus your geo area plus “open on Sunday.” Bigger banks with store branches might have some open tomorrow. Most banks will not cash a check from a non-account holder.

Don’t charge cards offer cash advances? I have accidentally inserted my CC in the ATM trying to take out cash and have been greeted by warning messages about fees. You might have to drive around to several banks in order to stay under the ATM limit. I know that my bank allows $1000 ATM withdrawals. I have never tried to take out more than that, so I don’t know if it is possible.

Our AmEx preferred card has a daily limit, that I think is $1000. Bank is a regional bank. Definitely not open on Sunday. Just opened a venmo acct. That limit is $3000/day.

Is $4,000 cash and $4,000 check an acceptable option to your seller?
