Is there a way to let a college know that it is your number one choice, regardless of whatever other college accepts you. I’m not talking about schools about schools like Princeton or Yale where they are obviously the number one choices for a lot of students. I’ve heard good schools (Carnegie Mellon, Emory, etc.) take demonstrated interest into consideration like if a student visits the college. The school in question I’m talking about is Stern in NYU.

bump !

It definitely won’t hurt if you clearly reflect your interest in the school through your essays and an interview if you have one. Some colleges do look at demonstrated interest during the admissions process, and visiting is a good idea no matter what school it is. Just keep in mind that although, like you said, it’s not princeton and yale, NYU stern is still the top choice of a lot of competitive applicants

Demonstrated interest is never a bad idea, but it’s not always factored into admissions decisions at larger schools. Still, it can’t hurt to have a scheduled visit and email your regional admissions officer if you have any relevant questions (but don’t make some up just to make some up).
