Is there any good point to shampoo? When we haven't needed it for eons?

But yet, really, the buildup of such particles doesn’t really affect my behavior or anything. Besides, humans (and all sorts of animals) have been living without shampoo for eons. It’s as if shampoo is an useless product whose demands are caused by social expectations.

And I don’t care about dandruff - it doesn’t bother me at all.

If you ever want to have meaningful social interactions with other human beings, I suggest you deal with that dandruff issue posthaste.

…other human beings who never used shampoo until modern times… In the past, no one really cared - since, after all, shampoo wasn’t even available.

oh, the curse of modernity. oh, how humans have created new needs out of things that really don’t matter at all.

In the past, people didn’t take soap or daily showers either. But if you hope to have meaningful social interactions with other human beings, I suggest that you take showers every day with soap and water.

I use shampoo because otherwise my hair gets really oily… which doesn’t encourage people to rub their hands through it…

I use shampoo because my hair gets disgusting and unmanageble without it…

People are more civilized now, than back then, and anyway, even if we lived way back then, it would still be dirty not to use it. We just wouldn’t really notice.

There are some people who go “no-poo.” A lot of shampoos have sulfates, which some feel hurts their hair/scalp. If you’re opposed to using shampoo, google around for “no-poo.” It really isn’t as gross as it might sound…Many women with very long hair don’t use shampoo because it strips hair of oils that help keep it healthy.

Shampoo makes my hair better. Nobody likes oily, smelly, dandruffy hair.

well maybe if society weren’t so superficial with such high expectations for women, we WOULDN’T always have to wash our hair ever day or two.

also, i just hate feeling filthy, and if my hair goes unwashed for a long time, it gets very knotted. during extended periods where i don’t have to go out (i.e. a long weekend or break) i’ll shower, but not wash my hair. it always feels MUCH healthier than the week before.

aftera long, dusty, hot day, hair can get really annoying! Shampoo is there to get rid of that uncomfortable feeling.
People didn’t use it before because it hadn’t been invented. Besides, its not like they were doing very well without it ;)

is there any good point to this thread?
you dont need the computer your typing on either…what’s your point?

I “no poo.”

Here is a book on that…

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0761123008/sheshdesigns-20?creative=327641&camp=14573&link_code=as1

I am really weird, because I somehow lucked out with long wavy hair, even though my ethnic background does not really lend itself to such a thing as that.

So, after years of straightening my hair. I just gave the heck up and checked out the “no poo” routine. It works well for me and I live in the South where it is already in the 90’s and all.

Trust me–dandruff will bother most if not all potential girlfriends.

Also, head massages are fantastic. No one wants to give anyone with a disgusting head a head massage.

Also, no poo sounds interesting, but I don’t know if I could go through the “oily period” that the site says can happen during the transition. I’ll stick to my chemicals, thanks.

SICK DANDRUFF. dandruff makes me wanna puke, not gonna lie.

I sometimes do the “no poo” thing. My hair (loosely curly/wavy, shoulder length) gets weighted down easily, so it just needs sulfates/something with a bit more oomph that conditioner to perk it back up. Believe it or not, it’s actually less oily when I don’t use shampoo than when I do.
