I feel like I have no chance at all with my 1st semester soph grades…

I’ll major in English Literature btw. My two poor grades were in math/science…so maybe they’ll excuse them…

And for anyone who’s wondering, I’m taking a gap year so that I can get my recs from National Geographic.

EDIT: I’ll apply EA btw!!! and I’m really passionate about my ECs.

Your ECs are really, really cool! If you can get a good rec from National Geographic, you’ll have a really big thing going for you there. Well, I can’t say anything about your academics because I’m an international student, but I’m thinking other candidates have more APs, right? Maybe you’d want to try and retake the ACT if you think you can do better? Well, apart from that, make your passion for your ECs shine in your essays! You’ll make for an excellent applicant! :)

thanks relativity93! Actually, I took 8/9 APs offered at my school :). And ACT is out of 36, so I think that it’s “ok” but not really sure…

to future chancers:
My school doesn’t send out EOY reports. They just send mid year/second semester reports. I really wish they sent out EOY because my final grade in Honors Chem. was actually an A and my final grade in Geom. was actually a B!!!

So if I had the end of year grades for my soph. year, it’d go like this:

Honors Chem: A
Spanish II (Honors not available): A
Honors World History: A
Honors American Lit: A
Religion: A
Psychology: A
Geometry: B

Does that make up for it/sound better?

I’ll chance back ASAP! I promise!

Bump! 10char

Brooke, I’m saying this in the nicest way possible since I was in your shoes a few years ago, stressing about your grades and posting chance threads on CC will do nothing and, as I’ve learned, is counterproductive. Just focus on school and enjoy it while it lasts. You can get into Princeton with or without straight A’s. It’s also not helpful for you to post projected stats and grades since you don’t know if you’ll even get those scores next year. On the other hand, you might surprise yourself in the end by how much you didn’t previously think you could accomplish. Your perspectives will change especially once you’re a junior. You might end up finding a new passion for that random club you never got into in ninth grade or be inspired by an amazing teacher (or turned off by a terrible one) I’m saying this because this happened to me. Just study, work hard, set goals, prioritize, and truly DO WHAT YOU LOVE THE BEST YOU POSSIBLY CAN. This is literally the best (and really the only advice) that can be given to you at this point in your high school career

OP listen to decillion. That is some very good advice!
