I am a community college student and already submitted my application back on Saturday as a Sociology major. However, my transferable GPA is 2.63 and it is due to a D in both Intermediate Algebra and Elementary Japanese. I got D's in both of them, because I overburdened myself by taking the maximum 18 units last spring. I'm repeating them both and have an A in Japanese and B in Math so far, but I am uncertain I can get admitted. Especially since I found out that UCR only looks at GPA for transfer students and does not look at the personal statements nor anything else. I know I can get a 2.8-2.9 after this semester, but it still looks grim for me. Be honest, is there actually any hope of me getting in to UCR?

Is there any hope of me getting admitted?

Honestly, your chances are not very good. You could probably get into Northridge.

you need a 3.0 GPA to be considered “competitive” according to an admissions representative from UCR
