Is There Any Point in Applying?

Stanford sounds like a really great place and I’m going to be visiting in December, but I think there’s very little chance I could get in with my GPA as low as it is. Do you have any opinions?

3.1 UW GPA
2190 SAT
34 ACT
Good but not amazing extracurriculars
URM
And a possible legacy, my Uncle went to Stanford for his combined MD and JD. Do they count grad school?

Is there any chance of me getting in?

Everyone’s chances are miniscule at a place like Stanford. Better to apply and find out than to always wonder “what if.”
Unlike WUSTL and Vanderbilt, Stanford considers much more than test scores. If you’re high achieving it could tip you in when coupled with great grades.

P.S. It’s much harder to get in as a transfer so best to try your luck now than later.

Slimmer than the normal slim chance with your GPA and just “good” ECs. An uncle is not considered a legacy.

Any explanation for the low GPA?
