Is there anyone on this board who would turn down a full ride from the ivys?

Do I stand alone on this. Just curious

yeah if i got offered a full ride at stanford then i would turn down any ivy

People seem to put so much weight on prestige. None of the ivys seem to be a good fit for me so i would turn them down. I may consider Brown

Since my top school is an ivy, I would in a second. It seems like a great fit for me, alas it would be impossible since it does not give merit aid.

Penn is the only Ivy I would consider, and even so, there are a ton of less prestigious schools I’d rather go to.

Of course I would…

… If my dad was a millionaire.

If it was Columbia, I think…

oh who am I kidding. I’d take a full ride anywhere.

I would turn down a full ride from cornell and dartmouth and possibly columbia. With the rest, i dunno…

I would take my current, need-based (but not full ride) aid at Rice than a full ride at any of the ivies (of course there is some hindsight bias that we need to adjust for).

I did. It was nice. :p

^ whatcha turn it down for??

kyledavid, your S is pretty much = HYP :D.

I might have to think about Brown, but I probably wouldn’t do it. I could go through and talk about reasons why they don’t fit me well, but that would take too long. Maybe for graduate school- not for undergrad. There’s probably only one school that I’d possibly attend instead of Bryn Mawr, and it’s not a Ivy.

Stanford will always be too good for the Ivy League. ;)

I would. They’re all up north! :)

Honestly, it’s gonna be hard for me to turn down a full ride from any college or university.

There are other schools I’d go to over an ivy any day, but I could only turn down a full ride if another school I want suddenly becomes really affordable.

I’d turn down HYP without a second thought. Brown might take a while longer (something about that school has always attracted me a little), but ultimately MIT has been my first chose forever (because of the atmosphere, not the prestige), so I’d have a hard time letting go of that for an Ivy, even if it was free. Although I guess it’s easy for me to say that now, but if the money was right there in front of me that would probably make the decision a whole lot harder…

North = cold. Just realized my last message might have been offensive to some.

What if one was a millionaire, and still wouldn’t take the full ride?

I’d rather get a full ride to UCLA than any Ivy.
