I got my SAT score back today, and I scored pretty well, in my opinion, with a 2230. I did good in the critical reading and writing sections, but my math left a little to be desired, with a 700. Typically I’m good at math, so I was a little surprised, but overall, I did not expect my score to be over a 2100, let alone 2200. Would it be a good idea to retake it with a particular focus on the math section in the hopes of getting it to 750 or so, or is that unlikely and a waste of time? I studied a lot before this first test, completing the Blue Book in the process. Is it likely that I can make this 50 or 60 point jump? And if I could only boost my Math score by 20 or 30 points, would that be enough to make any significant difference in college acceptances. Also, let’s say I do, hypothetically, get my score up 60 points. Do colleges like Brown, Duke, Cornell, Northwestern superscore?
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

Well, you didn’t score 2400, so, yes, there is room for improvement. 2230 is still a very good score.

If you do decide to retake the SAT, you shouldn’t focus exclusively on the Math section. You missed 70 points combined CR+W. There’s usually a little more wiggle room at the top of the CR section (usually one can still get a perfect 800 while missing a couple of questions), and the W section is the easiest to max out.
