Georgia Tech has this: onlyattech.net. And I’ve been procrasinating on my other college applications by reading and cracking up over these experiences. That website is similar to ■■■.com, but Georgia Tech style. It’s to showcase how socially inept and nerdy GA Tech students are. And it’s to show the lack of females there. One that I particularly liked was this:

“Today I was with a friend and he received a text from a girl that he finds extremely annoying that said “How pretty do you think I am on a scale from 1 to 10? 1 is hideous and ten is … well a 10 please be honest”. His reply back was “i.” Only at Tech.”

Does Berkeley have something similar?

P.S. I personally think he should have said “e” or “pi.”

You have both failed at understanding the complex plane!

Imaginary numbers like ‘i’ can not be rationally compared to real numbers like ‘1’ for use in equalities and inequalities like ‘=’, ‘<’, and ‘>’. Because of this, a responce of ‘i’ is useless as a metric since it would be impossible to create a scale.

Example:
On the scale provided, Jessica is a 2, Chelsea is a 4, and Stacy is a 9.

If I respond ‘e’, then that just means that you are hotter than Jessica.
With ‘pi’, you beat both Jessica and Chelsea, but you’re worse off than Stacy.
‘i’ however can’t be compared to either 2,3, or 9 so it is a surefire way to avoid upsetting her without lying and stating that she is a 10.0 and being further questioned, provided of course she knows this bit of rather obscure mathematics.
