is there such thing...

Is there such thing as being too smart for something?

The other day I was discussing my career plans with my neighbor. (By the way I’m a senior in HS). I told him what I would like to be and then he tells me not to be that because Im too smart to be that. ’ That kinda offended me because I was really determined on following that path.

Can that possibly be.

what was it? i think smart people might get bored with a repitive boring job. maybe thats what your neighbor was trying to say.

well… its Optomety
do you think its repetative?

The physicist Richard Feynman was famous for an essay he once wrote where he just wanted to teach physics at the uni he was at but people kept thinking he was better then that and he should go elsewhere. He finally tossed up his hands and declared he was under no obligation to care what other people think and the fact that people think he should be someone he wasn’t was their misfortune.
Therein lies your answer.

wow, thanks
never actually thought about it that way

anyway, he also told me that one doesnt find out what they actually are interested till their 3rd year in college.

thanks for the advice stargirl

I couldn’t see myself being an optometrist, but its always good to have a career vision.

Very clever joev
