I didn’t do as well in school over my freshman year as I would have liked. I got a 2.9 GPA overall, a 3.2 in Political Science (my major). I have, however, been involved. I write columns for multiple student newspapers, I’m a DJ on my college radio station, and I was hired to do some work with polling data for one of my professors. I go to University of Wisconsin-Madison.

I’ve come to the realization that I would like to do three things with my life. I would like to be an op-ed columnist, I would like to work in politics and I would like to teach.

After college I would like to go somewhere where I could set up shop as a consultant, a lobbyist, a strategist, something political or get a job in a political organization, while pursuing my education further. I realize with my GPA I may have to go through a Masters program before I can get into a PhD program. I would like to get my GPA up, realistically to above the 3.0 mark by the end of this year, and hopefully somewhere in the 3.2-3.5 range by the time I graduate.

Just so we’re clear I am realistically thinking of schools like Montana, Chicago State, George Mason, Louisiana State.

Is this plan possible? and if so what other schools should I be thinking about?
