I’m applying to SFS.

I live in Tucson, Arizona, and experience firsthand the problems and controversy of illegal immigration. I am considering writing about this for my SFS essay. Could this be considered a global issue?

I believe so. I saw someone in another thread write about this, and I think s/he was accepted, but I don’t remember for sure.

Also, I’ve heard from a friend who applied EA and was accepted and from a senior admissions director that the one page limit is semi-optional. As long as it’s not more than 1 and a quarterish pages, you should be fine.

Illegal immigration is a great topic as long as you take it one step outside of the US. Maybe comparing and contrasting it to the current European issue?

Hey, I talked about illegal immigration in my essay (particularly from Latin America) and got in EA. What I did was talk about how many people look at the issue from an American point of view, and therefore try to just treat the symptoms, and how we need to look at it from the point of view of global citizens and address the root causes, IE make it so people don’t feel the need to leave their homes.

You’re who I was thinking of!
