This is for Option 4, “Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence.”

I’m considering writing about the Pale Blue Dot photograph, which is the one taken during the Voyager 1 mission of the Earth from the perspective near Saturn. to me (and to Carl Sagan, the one who decided to take it), it symbolizes both how humbling the scope of the universe is in contrast of the importance people have put on themselves as well as the unity we all have in the sharing and responsibility of “our” planet. i’d write about how this has changed my perspective of people and my conduct toward others, along with my general philosophies on life and living. to write about this, though, I would need a pretty loose definition of “creative work,” and i’m only considering it since it lists science under its possible categories. do you think this is a good idea?
