Want to do engineering integrated in a liberal arts curriculum.

Schools I am thinking about:

Dartmouth College (have legacy)
Brown University
Rice University
Williams College
Carnegie Mellon
Michigan
Virginia
Tufts
Wash-U
University of Southern California
Northwestern
University of Pittsburgh
University of Maryland
UVM

Would any other schools work well that I am not thinking about? Thanks for your help!!!

How much will your parents pay? Umich is expensive for OOS

My parents will pay if the school is considered academically better than UMD or I get a scholarship. So, they consider Michigan to be academically a stronger school.

Where would you take your engineering if you attend Williams?

I would think about doing a 3-2 with Columbia. Far from my first choice, but I love almost everything about Williams.

Don’t they only have pre-engineering like Colgate?

Yes.

Further suggestions might depend on what colleges you have considered so far but have not specified (of course you can’t include everything in an OP). My initial thought in terms of “engineering integrated in a liberal arts curriculum” (in terms of schools you haven’t listed) is the University of Rochester. Don’t overlook Cornell either.

Beyond that, I think you are stacked too heavily in state schools. You are likely to get into several or all of them, you might as well decide on a couple of your favorites now and consider applying only to those.

Academically, you are close to a flawless applicant and your application will be widely appropriate. Not incidentally, you bothered to demonstrate a nice breadth in your selection of SAT subject tests.

Consider an ED application as well.

Thanks so much merc81! I am currently considering Brown or Dartmouth ED and I will definitely look into Rochester.

i definitely think you could get into any of these schools! harvey mudd is another liberal arts school known for its engineering program, so that’s another possibility. any of the claremont schools would be fair options. best of luck

Thanks blingybling4! I guess with all of the competition now a days it is just hard to feel good about yourself.

Williams/Columbia 3-2. Why not Columbia. Just Columbia? That and Stanford would be my top 2. Put another way, why Brown? Second the Harvey Mudd suggestion!

Maybe cut down on a few of the top schools(1 or 2) so you have more time to write supplemental essays for a few top schools instead of several top schools

ItsJustSchool the reason for Williams/Columbia would be that I really do not like big cities that much. I like Brown because the freedom of the curriculum between the engineering program and the liberal arts program is ideal. I could major in engineering, but easily take philosophy classes for example. Same with Brown, Rice, and Tufts. I do not like Harvey Mudd because it is more of a straight up engineering school and it seems there is little opportunity to explore majors outside of the math/science world. Issue with Stanford is it is far.
