Is this a good sign?

One of the colleges I’ve been looking at (Knox College; Galesburg, IL) recently invited me to their Open House this Monday AND offered to pay the round-trip train fare for me and one of my parents from Union Station in Chicago (I live in the suburbs) to Galesburg which is a good 3 hours away. Should I get excited that they invited me personally and paid for my train fare (plus my mom’s)? Does this mean Knox is seriously interested in me? I’m currently a junior, so I won’t be applying to Knox until this fall most likely. I don’t think the train fare thing has anything to do with my economic status because 1.) I’ve never let them know my family’s income and 2.) it’s a pretty decent income. Lol. I know this is kind of a dumb question, but Knox is pretty much my first choice at this point, so I’m really excited!

I think it means that they do genuinely have an interest in you, yes  Otherwise they wouldn’t offer to pay for your trip. But this is not a GUARANTEE - just an acknowledgment that you fit their basic criteria and your application will be reviewed carefully next year. GL!

Thanks. That’s what I was kind of taking it as too. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t getting too excited. :)
