Is this a good time to mail an extraneous supplement?

<p>To give colleges a deeper look into my interests, I’ve decided to mail a copy of our student newspaper, a fictional map and a few other things to five schools. My fear, though, is that by the time such items arrive, the admissions counselors will be off for winter break and won’t have a chance to look at any of them. </p>

<p>If I mail the items on Monday the 15th, they’ll probably reach most schools by the 20th. Would this be too late? Should I wait until January to send over the items?</p>

<p>All of the things that I’m sending are very important to me. I meant extraneous in the sense that none of them are required in the application. (If I wrote “supplement,” some people might have gotten confused.)</p>
