Is this a good topic for personal essay?

<p>Here is my story during highschool:
My dad had a business that supply autoparts to SY motors in asia. After the SY motors went through the bankruptcy process in 2007, my dad’s business stopped. Moreover, the promissory notes which issued by his partner were bounced and my dad got the responsibility for the millions dollars of the dishonored bills. He was harassed by creditors and finally lived in hiding for a year. I dropped out of highschool and started work. Later, I earned GED and studied for 2 years in community college.</p>

<p>I am going to use this story for the topic of personal essay. After describing the story, I will say that I became mature after it and I want to study economics because I decided to change the economy that ruin my dad and my family’s life even the bankruptcy wasn’t my dad’s fault.</p>

<p>I am having trouble explaining why I want to study economics. It must sounds resasonable why I decided to study economics after his bankruptcy, but my english skill bothers me (Im an international student). Any idea? advice? And do you think it is a good topic for personal essay?</p>

<p>Your English sounds great. I think this is a good topic because it tells about you personal life and also shows why you chose the major you did. It also shows how you learn from experiences which is what colleges look for. Just be sure to explain HOW you grew from this and what you take out of it.
