Well today I decided to go over my May Sat mistakes to see what I got wrong and all that good stuff when I stumbled up my stats for the English. So on the English section I got 4 questions wrong and got a 8 on the essay. Would these numbers land me a with a 660 on the english. I had expected I got a lot more questions wrong but 4 questions …660?? Can collegeboard mess up. Can anyone tell me if this accurate?

It’s accurate. For Jan 09: Missed 8, 8 essay = 610
For Oct 08: Missed 4; omitted 2, 8 essay- 660.

Pretty average, actually. 4 wrong gives you a raw score of -5 or 44. This is around a 70 subscore, but the 8 essay dropped you down a bunch.

^Yeah, it was definitely the essay that did you in. If you’d gotten a 12 essay, I’d say you’d have gotten 700+

I got 4 wrong in May with a 10 essay and got a 700. So as you can see the essay is actually weighted a lot more than one would think. Thats why people’s scores are much more likely to fluctuate on the writing section.
