Is this a scam?

How can I tell if this EMT course is a scam or not accredited? [Connecticut Medical Training Academy - EMT, MRT, Paramedic and other Emergency Service Training in Connecticut](http://www.med-ed-systems.com/)
The contact e-mail is a hotmail address, the application form asks for my SSN and Drivers License # while applications for EMT courses at a nearby hospital do not. Also, I checked the address on google maps and it seems shady…

I’d sign up for courses at the hospital but their times are bad for me. Can anyone help out?

Sure seems like a scam to me. Asking for your SSN seems really sketchy, I’d avoid it.

Go visit them. My EMT classes website was kinda…odd and the building was even odd but it was a good class all together with good instructors.

Visiting them tomorrow; is there any type of certification I can check for?

Check to see that it IS a school, not just an address. Tell them you will give them a 9 digit identification number and when they need your driver’s license #, you will provide it at the time needed. If it is a real school, they will have no trouble with that.

It doesn’t look like a scam… Paranoid much?

"The Connecticut Medical Training Academy joined forces with the University of Connecticut Health Center, School of Medicine, Division of Emergency Medicine and the American Heart Association and the National Safety Council. In the beginning, courses were limited to CPR, Basic First Aid, Water Rescue, Babysitter Safety Awareness, Medical Response Technician, and Emergency Medical Technician. In March 1997, Med-Ed Systems, Inc. was purchased in full by the Connecticut Medical Training Academy. In a move toward continuing growth joined forces with many hospitals and Emergency Medical Providers in the area to help provide a wide spectrum of clinical practice and experience to our students. Now locally and nationally recognized as a provider of quality medical education, the Connecticut Medical Training Academy offers courses from CPR and Basic First Aid to Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic.
Contact the U of CT Health Center since they are supposedly affiliated and ask about the school. As long as you do it in a respectful manner and as a concerned student, they probably won’t mind providing you with a simple “yes, we are affiliated and would recommend them” or “no, I’ve never heard of them and that sounds shady” response.

Sorry for the bump, but I just wanted to say that it turned out to be legit, in case anyone finds this. Never thought you could fit thirty people in such a tiny room.
