For my personal essay, I sent in a letter I wrote to my friends. It details a particular revelation I had on a somewhat controversial topic (religion). However, it doesn’t dismiss other religions or atheism and I followed it up with an analysis of what the revelation told me about myself as well as the topic.
It was sort of like a “letter to the editor” type of thing. My question here is this: how common is this approach? Also, do you think that if I accidentally offended someone, they will be willing to overlook it as it was written for people who share the same beliefs?

Religion is risky, I know. That’s why I chose it.
