Is this a valid reason to transfer?

I have a good GPA and all, but I’m not sure whether my reason to transfer will be sufficient. I want to transfer to more well known schools, and in particular schools that put more effort into teaching. I currently go to a big research school, and want to have a better class room setting – will other universities wash this off as a bs reason or is it fine?

@gaokaomaster - You’ve mentioned two reasons and you need to distinguish between them. First, wanted to leave a large university for a more student-centered, teaching-focused school is legitimate. This is something you can tell your teachers at your current schools if you need recs, and it certainly can be included in your application for the new school. Second, you say you want a more “well known school.” Actually, many of the teaching centered schools are LACs that are less well known than big schools, as the best known schools are those that stand out with research or stand out with sports. Good luck.

What universities care about is that you are transferring to find the best fit for your academic goals, interests, and needs. More intimate classroom settings work better for a lot of people because of your amount of contact with the professor. Not only can more face time with professors help you during your time at school, but it also can provide you with great connections for recommendation letters and networking. As long as your reasons for transferring are genuine, schools will accept them!

I have the following question that I need to clarify before submitting my application. I live in California and have attended a community college here for two years now. I recently completed my AA and I am ready to transfer. However, I took some college credits that I am not proud of in Venezuela (I am from Venezuela). Can I completely omit this institution from my Univ. application, because if I listed it, they will require me to send them the transcripts, which I don’t have. Can they find out about this foreign institution even when I omit it from my application. Please help!
