So I took the SAT for the first time in March and did alright (740 CR 620 M 790 W E12), but, as you’ve probably guessed, I want my math to go up to the high 600/low 700 range, and maybe get CR more on par with the writing. I’ve been studying, but if, for SOME reason, my math stays about the same, would this be an okay score to send to top school (HYP) for a non math/science major?

To put it simply - is it a dealbreaker? (assuming an otherwise solid app)

It would be best if you could get the Math score to above a 700. HYP would prefer to see a well-rounded student, even if the student has no desire to go into a field involving math/science.

But to directly answer your question, I wouldn’t necessarily consider it to be an automatic deal breaker, but certainly it wouldn’t be a strength of your application. (assuming you’re not an URM)

depends on what you mean by better than okay school. if you mean top 10 or top 20, then yeah you might need a boost in your SAT math if your GPA isn’t up there. However if you are looking for schools in the non ivy divisions, that score is fine.
