Does this story by the NY Times warrant breaking into existing programming with Keith Olbermann, practically in an orgasmic frenzy, using the word “romantic” repeatedly?

It is as newsworthy as the story on Lohan’s questionable pictures featured as one of the big headlines on the CNN’s website. Yuck. I want real news.

I agree Zoosermom, I was watching MSNBC at the same time and by adrenaline starting pumping thinking there was some kind of national emergency. Sheesh. I generally trust the NYT but the story seems a little too cloak and dagger and rumor-based speculation with unnamed sources. Still the NYT doesn’t usually run things like this so maybe there is more to it.

It’s not breaking news. The insinuations about a possible romantic connection are just that, and a rather contemptible way to attract readers’ attention. But the observations about McCain’s ethical blind spots are worthy of analysis.

This is funny. I told everyone there were problems with McCain, that the press was holding back some stories that would come out. I told you so.

“This is funny. I told everyone there were problems with McCain, that the press was holding back some stories that would come out. I told you so.”

Indeed. Do you think Hillary has someting (anything) on Obama that’s yet to come out?

If there was every any doubt about the New York Slime being a liberal tash rag, this article should clear up any doubt. There is no proof of any romantic relationship by McCain with the women, but the NYT cites annonymous sources to suggest just that. NY is pathetic, as usual.

In bed with corporate lobbyist(s). Well, we knew it was coming sooner or later. I’m sure Bill Keller has vetted every millimeter of this story, and every lawyer at the Times has gone over it with a fine-tooth comb.

The lobbyist is the crucial part for McCain - the sex is incidental. McCain won’t attack the “anonymous sources”, 'cause then they’ll come forward…

Hillary won’t say nuthun. McCain will come out on stage with his wife and quip, “with a piece like this, why would I?” Obama will march his two daughters on stage with their teddy bears. :)

Huckabee’s been waitin’.

I LOVE this sort of politics."

Mini, you are a treasure and I mean that with the utmost sincerity.

"I’m sure Bill Keller has vetted every millimeter of this story, and every lawyer at the Times has gone over it with a fine-tooth comb. "

I didn’t read the whole thing but the article seems to be edited to death. MSNBC is saying that the NYT had the story a few days prior to the Iowa/NH elections but held off on running it. McCain apparently hired lawyers at that point. Not sure why they ran the story now as opposed to earlier.

I’m sick of how media now seems to think that their primary purpose is to cover news about the lurid and bizarre especially if the story has video.

I think you’re right, zoosermom. It so reminds me of that song…“Give 'em dirty laundry”. The barely suppressed glee with which the media reports scandal is frankly disgusting. There was no need in interrupt programming for this.
If they don’t, you can be sure they are either desperately seeking something, or working to manufacture something. After last night, it’s clear that there’s no time to administer death by a thousand cuts. They need something big—or something small that they can make big for two weeks. Billary has the instincts of an assassin. I’m just waiting…
