Is this class required your first year of college?

Is Intro to Psychology a required class in your freshman year of college? Can you take it whenever? Did you take psychology your first year?
Would becoming a high school guidance counselor have anything to do with psychology?

When you applied to college, you went under undecided as your major, so you were not planning on going into psychology.

Psych is required only of certain majors such as psychology or sociology. If you are in those majors you need to take it first year because it is a requirement before you can take more psych courses. Many students in unrelated majors might take it as an elective that counts toward their general education requirements at a university. Moreover many admitted undecided may take it both for gen ed credit and just to see if they may like it as a major. You do not need a psychology degree for high school counseling.
