So basically I have college algebra and failed the 1st 30% of the class. I only have 23 of 300 possible points. The total points for the class will be 800. There are many points left to be earned however I would basically have to have perfect scores. I didnt know that I could go to class is my classes werent paid yet.

Anyway should I put in the effort to still try to pass even though its nearly impossible or should I just focus on getting As in my other classes so that my gpa will go up? (im doing great in my other classes). If I get a F I will be suspended however withdrawing would not hurt my gpa.

I’d suggest to withdraw from the class. Even if you get the entire 500 of the upcoming points, this leaves you with a 523 out of 800 which is the equivalent of a 65%. (Although, I’m not sure if this is how your class is graded). A D isn’t favorable and generally does nothing for you credit wise. Best to just drop it, and try harder next time.

Getting As in your classes will not help a low grade such as a D. I’m not sure what year you are or how many credits you have so far, but Cs and lower essentially crash your GPA if you don’t have many credits as of yet.

But if you REALLY don’t want to drop it, seek remediation with your teacher. Find out ways you can either retake the test or strike up a deal.
