Is this essay topic alright? I’m writing about helping a girl who just immigrated here adjust to American high school life. (It connects well with one of my extracurriculars - not going to go into specifics for privacy reasons). I was wondering if this sounded okay as an idea - I haven’t written anything yet.

As long as this essay is about you - not the girl who immigrated - then it could be a fine way to provide insight to the adcoms on who you are, what you value, what you can contribute to their school and what your goals and objectives are. Make sure you have an objective adult (an English teacher perhaps?) read it to make sure you are accomplishing your goals. Harry Bauld’s book on writing college essays is also a great resource.
Thanks for the advice!
