Is this good for an essay intro?

I’m applying to the University of Utah for majoring in game design. I want to know if the intro I wrote for the essay topic is good, or if I should totally rewrite it.

Essay topic: Shakespeare wrote: “The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool”. What major lessons have you learned in life and what do you hope to learn in college?

And here’s my intro:

Let me first rephrase the quote Shakespeare wrote: Fools are wise, and wise men are idiots.
Oh, I know I’ve translated the quote into the exact antithesis of its actual meaning, and I apologise for that. But I consider both Shakespeare and myself as mere mortals, and mortals lack the acumen to rate anyone’s intelligence on a scale of “hopeless idiocy” to “superhuman wisdom.” Therefore, I shall not delve into questioning the truthfulness of the original quote and that of the mistranslation I provided for it.
I’ll state my opinion on the matter, however, which is that there are two kinds of fools in this world: one, people who never learn from their past mistakes, and two, people who can’t differentiate a video game from an animated movie. Once you learn to overcome these two barriers, you fall into the league of normal humans, and thereafter the judgement of your intelligence lies with the almighty.

The way you phrase it makes you sound a little pretentious. Is this how you talk to your friends and peers everyday? If so, keep it. But if not, you should try to bring out your own voice in your essays

What he said^. You want to write the way you would talk to people in real life. This isn’t an essay for English class.

Thanks so much guys! :D

I also wouldn’t put that you apologize for anything especially in the first few sentences. You want to project confidence in your beliefs and opinions.
