Next summer (before I start 11th grade) I plan to work two weeks in Taiwan helping students to learn English. Is that typical or is it somewhat meaningful/impressive?

I would say that being dedicated to helping people in your community (I’m sure you can volunteer somewhere) on a long-term basis, especially helping with an issue you’re really passionate about, is more impressive that spending two weeks somewhere foreign helping people. It’s important to have reasons for doing things. If you think speaking english is important, try to find something local that will help you help others
That’s not to say that helping students in Taiwan isn’t commendable, and if you do it you should definitely put it on your app, I’m just saying that usually long term projects show your passion and dedication better.
