Is this interesting enough????

I’ve heard that to give you a great chance to get in to Harvard you have had to have done something interesting or amazing, would getting your cartoons published in the newspaper or creating a comic book seal the deal or pretty close???

depends what newspaper
New York Times: Yep
School Paper: Nope

and is this comic book published or is it a few drawings you did on a sunday afternoon.

comic book

The cartooning might engender some interest if you combine it with something else … like wrestling, for example.

There was a cartoonist on CC last year, I think, who was also into body-building. Can’t remember if he got in, though.

no, basketball is more my type, i’m good in science, math, history (academics) and, of course, ART!!! wanna be a scientist!! sounds nerdy, i know!

Then, how does being a cartoonist help you major or overall resume? Is it just another EC that will easily be looked over? And with drawing for a newspaper, its a great EC, just wonder if it holds any merit. Liek stated above, unless yer a regular cartoonit for a national syndicated newspaper or something well-known, its not going to be held as a “hook” perse. Plus, with Harvard, it is almost impossible to “seal the deal” unless you single-handedly cured AID or something…

Pretend you have visions for your artistic talent. Helping children in Africa or something… nah only kidding. But I reckon they’d be far more interested if you turned it into a passion, but also demonstrated that you are well-rounded with your other ECs and that you are also strong academically.
