Is this legit?

Well, chances are I’m going to get rescinded from every college I’ve been admitted to, and I’m not really welcome at my own house, so with homelessness on the horizon, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to take up this “job offer”:

[Teach in China ◄Free Rent & Utils ►](http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/edu/1142342862.html)

…it’s a little risky, because once I’m there, there’s absolutely nothing I can do but hope that this isn’t some scam. I wouldn’t even have enough money to fly back, and getting some other job there might be impossible. I’ve even heard of immigrants being beaten up by police for not having the proper paperwork.

Do you think this is legit?

I would avoid it, and it looks like they’re paying $600/month. Which while decent enough in China, probably will leave you stuck there should you decide to leave, run into a emergency, etc.
Second issue I would have is, I Googled their program “Journey East” and found nothing about them, no reviews from people who have used them, not even passing mention of them on other sites, aside from their own website…
Third problem, their site looks like it was created by a third grader.
Lastly, Google “Besi LLC.” - some company involved with the program that has their hands in everything, and according to WHOIS, owns 64 websites.
Could be nothing, but…I would still avoid it.

There are several college study abroad programs which are a cinch to get accepted into it. Pretty much anyone who applies is in.

If I recall correctly, SUNY Geneso had a teaching study abroad program where students taught at some Chinese college, held office hours and everything.

Basically, I stick with the “if you have to ask,” mantra.

^ Don’t study abroad programs cost money? And like $32k at that? I’m trying to earn enough money to attend college. :x

Yes and no. Depending which country you go to, you can get a ridiculous amount of aid. A friend of mine spent a year in China, one semester in Beijing, one in Shanghai. Freeman Asia paid for most of it.

Then, there’s also, if you’re up to it, “begging.”
One girl I had class with was trying to go to some African country and stood outside of Wal-Mart asking for money, after three weeks, she collected $15k from that alone.

I know SUNY Brockport offers several paid internships in various countries, too.
You just have to look hard enough.

ETA: But…going abroad to earn money to go to college =/= a good idea.
You’re probably going to get a higher salary working in the US or the UK. And then going abroad would cut into your earnings a great deal, even if all you had to pay for was airfare.

Nevermind, looks like Freeman Asia is no longer giving scholarships.
There are still a lot of other programs. The government has a lot. Because so few students take advantage of studying abroad, it’s pretty easy to get them.
