Is this necessary?

I am applying to Rutgers this week for undergrad. I have a 3.8 GPA and 2000 SATs. However I don’t have any community service. It says that information must be submitted on that form to be considered. Considered for the school? Rutgers is my top school and I want to get in. I did have some family obligations (baby-sitting brother), so if I check the box which says ‘yes i did have family obligations’ and write my reasons why (and what I gained from it, etc.), will they look down on me? So what’s better… not including anything and not saying I had family obligations, or not including anything and saying I DID have obligations?

I’m concerned because I’ve been told by teachers and guidance counselors its a strictly numbers-school, so I’ve got nothing to worry about?

Thanks =/

Community service is unnecessary. Definitely include that you did baby-sitting. That is very understandable. And it is better to show that you did something rather than keep it blank.

Rutgers tends to be numbers based like your teachers and guidance counselor state. Your GPA and SAT scores are competitive. Very good numbers. You’ll get in. I’d be surprised if you didn’t get in. :)

Good luck!

Don’t worry so much I applied and I don’t have any community service either. They mainly look at gpa, rank, and sat.
