Soo like many of you, I was rejected. UCLA has been the only school I’ve really wanted to go to, so I’m contemplating an appeal.

Something I didn’t mention on my application was my social anxiety disorder (yes…diagnosed by a doctor, not just me being shy). I honestly don’t think it made thaaat big of a difference in HS, but it definitely did make it difficult to ask for help or participate in class. I didn’t put it on my app back in November because I didn’t want it to seem like I was making excuses. But desperate times call for desperate measures!

So, fellow CC-ers, is this new and compelling enough that it would make them seriously reconsider? Be brutally honest!

IDK, I really don’t think so. Lots of people have anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, eating disorders, etc. They don’t mention it and still get in, and I think admissions officers know that.

I don’t think it’ll really make a difference in their decision…just like that I mean. You can’t expect them to be like “I’m sorry, you had great stats, but we still rejected you. Sorry. Oh what? You have a disorder? ZOMGZ OUR BAD, here take this acceptance package and come here right away!”

its a really bad idea to mention any sort of mental illness. theyll use it against use. remember that girl at mit? she killed herself? it was a huge deal. colleges dont want to deal with that.
