Is this not enough APs for top schools?

Junior Year:
AP US GOV’T
AP ENG LANG

Senior Year:
AP HUG
AP ENG LIT
AP US HISTORY

The only classes I didn’t take that I like are European History. I prefer my DE options of Sociology and Macroeconomics instead. The rest of my classes are dual enrollment. My school doesn’t have AP French, Seminar, Economics, Comparative Gov’t and those are the ones I wish I could take. We have AP Psychology but it’s not worth a whole year, I’d rather take another French and 3 APs sounds kinda rough junior year. So I’m taking it DE. I want time for my ECs.

Is this too low? Good balance?

Should I take APES second semester in place of DE Macroeconomics? I like macroeconomics, hate science though.

My school has AP Biology and AP Chemistry but I don’t have any interest in them, I’m applying under History, South Asian studies or IR. Will I be penalized for avoiding them? Also, to make room for those 3 APs senior year and French I have to take calculus honors. Is it worth it to take Calc AB instead of French 4?

you have way more going on than you can reasonably expect an online forum to help you with. Here are some of your posts in the past few months

And of course the Ivy dream post http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1901408-can-i-get-into-harvard.html

If your school offers 30 AP classes and most of the high achieving kids are taking 10 APs then you probably would have trouble with the tippy top schools because you aren’t taking the most rigorous schedule. If you are taking a pretty tough load for you school according to your counselor this is fine. If you can do an AP math or science I do think strengthens your application because it may look like you aren’t as well rounded as you could be by avoiding all of these.

Ask your guidance counselor if your schedule is strong enough that he/she will check off the box saying you took the most rigorous schedule available at your HS. That is really what is important and nobody here can answer that for you.
