I am highly interested to go to NYU-Poly for engineering. Despite this I am very uninformed on the process of applying for classes, etc. For example, I want to get my engineering degree there and take my other mandatory classes somewhere else like Manhattan College. I really do not want to pay $50,000+ at NYU because all I will really need is my engineering degree. Is that possible? How much is tuition for that one class? Please help me figure this out because I am aspiring to go to college in NYC.

Your post is a bit confusing.

From which school do you want your degree to come from…NYU-Poly? If so, then it’s likely that NYU-Poly is going to require that X number of engineering credits come from THAT school. NYU-Poly could require that half or more of the engineering credits have to come from that school in order for them to issue the degree.

* How much is tuition for that one class? *

What “one” class? Which “one” class are you talking about???

Why are you asking how much ONE class at NYU-Poly would be? You’d need to take a bunch.

What you are proposing (I think) is enrolling at one university, but taking selected courses as a visiting student at another. While people do this all the time (usually by doing summer classes at the second university), it is harder to arrange during the regular school year because of the different universities’ fee structures and calendars. This means that it probably doesn’t make sense in your particular case. Engineering courses usually must be taken in a strict sequence, and often even within one university the admissions to the engineering program is restricted. It would be very difficult for you to be a Manhattan College student who just pops over to NYU-Poly once a week for a couple of engineering classes.

If money is an issue, it would make a lot more sense for you to spend your first two years at a community college that has an articulation agreement with NYU-Poly. Here is a link to some information about current agreements [:: Polytechnic Institute of NYU :: Undergraduate Admissions :: Special Information :: Transfer Students :: Articulation Agreements ::](http://archive.poly.edu/admissions/undergrad/specialinfo/transfer/articulation_agreements.php) There may be others, so you should call NYU-Poly and ask. With an articulation agreement, provided you complete a specific series of courses and earn a certain GPA at the first institution, you are guaranteed transfer admission into the second institution.

In addition to the places that have formal articulation agreements, there may be other community colleges that often act as “feeders” for NYU-Poly. You should contact the transfer admissions office there, and find out which NYC area CCs send a lot of transfers to NYU-Poly in the majors that you are specifically concerned about.
