Is this quotation offensive?

”What’s it like to be Asian?”
”What’s it like to be Jewish?”
”I’m not really a practicing Jew. I sometimes eat pork.”
”I’m not really a practicing Asian. I sometimes use a fork.”
-Still Angry Little Girls, Lela Lee

I’m trying to think of a quotation to use for my Princeton essay, and I LOVE this author (she’s absolutely hilarious). But is this inappropriate to quote for a college essay? How “traditional” are Princeton’s adcoms?
Oh, another concern… I’m supposed to quote a book or an essay, and this is like a graphic novel, which only sort of fits. What do you think, bad idea?

I don’t think they’ll be super-strict about where your quote comes from. Graphic novel? Perfectly fine as long as the quote and essay are good.

Personally, I think the quote is really funny! But I have no idea how traditional or not Princeton’s adcoms are…I’m leaning towards ‘use it!’ :P

I second Beautifulnights, I’m asian and i like those quotes ^_^. A little humor in your essay wouldn’t hurt at all. I say use it!

Thanks for the advice! Hahah, yeah but you know how people always tell you not to use humor if you’re not a funny person? I have such a terrible sense of humor that I fit into the “not a funny person” category… so I tend to avoid trying to be funny ahah.

Any other advice? Maybe I should post this in the Princeton forum.
