Is this SAT score enough??!!

I took the May SAT and got a score of 2000 (Reading550,Math790,Wrinting660)
I’m applying for schools ranking 20-50,incluidng UCLA,USC,UIUC,Boston University,Virginia and Texas Austin.I think my essay is good and have a few extracurriculum activities.I’m going to take the Nov. SAT,but I’m not sure that I can get a score like 2100+,so is 2000+enough for these schools?

Well, it’s not guaranteed, but one thing I can assure you: higher, “might be” the better.

Your Reading score is going to virtually eliminate you from USC & especially Virginia. I’m not as famniliar with the others, but if your score is below their 25th percentile your chances aren’t good.

If you could raise your reading score to around 650-700 and maybe writing to a 700 you would have a nicer spread and an overall score closer to a match for those schools.

you can definitely get into boston university

yeah!Strive for better!

I know my reading score is fairly low,but it’s hard for me to improve it,I can’t understand what the passage is talking about:-(

650-700!!I ‘ll do as much as I can.

Thanks! I hope they can send me a Congratulations email!

keep in mind even if you are below the 25th percentile, that still means 1/4 of the class has lower scores than that! Low SATs are not the kiss of death.

…not the kiss of death…but maybe a hug…keep in mind that averaged in with those scores are recruited athletes, legacies, professors kids, etc. The group that “unhooked” applicants are competing against scores are higher that what the college reports. Chances are well below average.

550 CR is low hanging fruit. Buy a Bluebook or borrow it from the library and do one passage a day (10-15 minutes) from now until the Nov test and carefully go over all the answers and your mistakes. I think there is a good chance that you can get that 100 points improvement. Also if vocab is a problem, make sure you have a good list of words and learn as many of them as you can before the test.
