Hey my schools class rankings came out and I’m ranked 12/120 with a 98.6 weighted. I’ve taken without a doubt the hardest schedule my school has to offer… no lunch/ study halls. The big problem is that I’m very involved in the music program and other such electives that bring my grade down. For example my frosh/soph year I took band and chorus and got low 90s in both classes. Without these elective courses (ie. just my academic courses) I would have about a 100.5 and be in the top three of rankings. Most the people ahead of me take very few electives ect. Will this hurt my chances at top schools? Specifically University of Chicago and Georgetown SFS?

You are still top 10%, so combined with the academic rigor of your schedule this should not be a problem.

ask your counselor to clarify this situation in your school report/rec

anyone else?

no lunch? isn’t that wrong? I thought there was some rule

and sounds a bit like grade inflation to me

and eat a cookie, gosh a 98.5…how horrid…please

Yeah…I mean…no lunch?? Really?

A lot of schools recalculate your GPA omitting non-academic courses. I think you can count on the admissions office at Chicago to get it right.

“and eat a cookie” thanks for the advice I def made the most kick ass batch of cookies today! Seriously! They were uhmazing. I think I might save some and send them in w/ my applications and try to bribe the adcoms…
