Is this the right way to go for my career goals?

Hellloo

I am a freshman at a college in New Jersey with a pretty close proximity to NYC, I would say about a half hour train ride to Manhattan.

My father is a successful entrepreneur in Real Estate so it seems obvious for me to apply to school as a business major right? Well I thought so at first but it seems that now I have no clue what I want.

Over the past couple days of searching and researching over and over I find myself considering a vast number of majors from Finance to Chemistry to Sociology to Journalism.

I’m a pretty confident person in most areas of my life, I think my High School course load was definitely not as strong as most of my peers. I have the most fun I feel when I’m writing things and expressing my emotions and ideas to paper. I do have an interest in Business, mainly because of the job prospects and opportunity to make some bank, mostly in the stock market. Right now my idea of the ideal major is to be a major in Finance and a minor in communications and sociology. I feel this way because I would learn the bulk of my business skills and have a fallback to a business career and still be able to learn about behaviors of society while learning to better communicate my feelings on paper. With this I will definitely be writing for both my school paper and the publication of the business school. A dream job of mine write now is to write an opinionated column in a business magazine/newspaper or any other high level publication.

My question to you is do you guys think this course of study is a good one and is there anything else i should major/minor in if I want to achieve my goals?

Thank you.
