is this the same as a regular "apply here!" email?

"Dear elchagas,

On behalf of Harvard’s Latino community, we would like to congratulate you on your outstanding achievements and encourage you to consider Harvard as you apply to college.

After having spent three years studying at Harvard, we can attest to its unique combination of a rigorous academic experience and exciting extracurricular opportunities. A renowned faculty teaches in over forty different fields, research opportunities for undergraduates abound, and students enjoy access to the largest university library system in the world. Harvard is also home to over 400 student-run organizations that cater to a wide range of interests such as athletics, journalism, music, community service, investment, and debate.

Almost 10% of the Harvard student body is of Latin American descent, and there are countless social, cultural, and political activities designed to commemorate and share this heritage. The Latino community is known for its vibrant presence on campus. We organize everything from “Presencia Latina,” the annual Latin American cultural show, to panels featuring different Latin American figures from the spheres of art, literature, science, and politics. Harvard’s proximity to large Latino populations in Boston also allows us to interact meaningfully with these communities. From tutoring and mentoring at high schools to working with ESL programs, social service is an excellent way to remain in touch with our culture.

As representatives of the Harvard Latino community and coordinators for the Minority Recruitment Program, we would like to reiterate our hope that you will consider Harvard among your options for a superior education. Please, do not hesitate to send us any questions about the application process and Harvard in general; we would love to hear from you!
who else got this URM email full of false promise?

I did. I took mine with a grain of salt. The fine print would so “assuming you are so godly we choose you…” Harvard is such a coquette…

“Harvard is such a coquette…”

bahahahahhahah. currently trying to find stats about how many of these puppies are sent out. does anybody know?

I don’t know about that, but they sent one to Asians a while back IIRC.

Yes, it’s a regular “apply here” e-mail.

It’s just a normal “apply here” email for minorities. Asians get one, black people get one, Hispanics get one.

I got one pretty much exactly like that from Brown, got all excited, posted it on CC and then was told it was a regular college spam mail. oh well
