Is this "thread" made of cotton or polyester?

why are these posts called threads? why not just…um…postings? and the replies could remain “posts”.
I was just wondering

Heh, I always love a good play on words.

And I do not know the answer to that question… the word “thread” has been around for ages on the internet. It sounds cooler than “postings”. That’s all I can come up with.

I guess so. I was just wondering where it came from.

My vote goes for polyester. Who needs natural fibers, right?

Cotton all the way.

I hate both actually.

Cotton-cool and breathes well. :D

but it can make people uncomfortable in hot weather.

I find cotton very comfortable in summer.

“Thread” makes sense; it’s a collection of posts that are loosely connected, sort of strung along. I don’t know when or where it started, though.

well, if you put it that way I guess it does make a little sense. It’s just that I happened to notice that a few discussion forums used “posts” as reference to posts as well as threads.

That’s obviously because they aren’t nearly as cool as CC!!

Cotton, for sure.

^why? .

Cotton > polyester. For one, it breathes better. Two, it feels better. Three, it’s not a cheap plastic sustitute to make clothing. Four, it just has the CC spirit!

lolzi3 @ this “thread”

^but would you describe it as a cotton or polyester thread?
