On the Jan SAT, I got 770 M, 720 W, and 720 CR.

I really want a 2300-2350 SAT score and I only plan on applying to private colleges so…

would it be too risky if I retook the SAT in march and I only focused on raising my CR and W scores? I’m still going to try in math but I’m just not going to waste time studying for it.

Whats your advice?

Oh, and I omitted one Q and got one wrong on the MC and an 8 on the essay and received a 720…does that sound like a normal score? My friend said she got 2 wrong and an 8 on the essay and got 740…

You should definitely go for the 2300-2350 SAT score if you feel that it is attainable. Considering you almost got none wrong on the MC for the SAT Writing section, an 800 is definitely conceivable in that category. Also, a 770 in math usually indicates that one is capable of getting an 800 but just made a mistake or two rather than actually not knowing the material. I scored a 770 twice before scoring an 800 on the Math. Also. your score at this point comes out to a 2210. I had a similar score (2230) and I was able to improve to a 2360 (800s on the Math & Reading sections) with a little preparation.

In regards to your second question, it seems as if the curve for your test was brutal. This means the test difficulty in question was regarded as easy by the College Board.
