Is this too offensive?

^ Lol.

You making fun of me now?!? Mocking me?

Cool, feel free to

^Ah, no, I wasn’t, buuuuuuuuuut if you say so.

edit - Really though, I was trying to impress everyone with my superiority (via overcoming 10char) ;]

you dont need to prove anything, it’s pretty much a consensus that im an idiot :)

Oh I meant overall superiority, like, over everyone. lol.

lol, thanks for proving my point ;)

anyways…

don’t define the words. It’s pretty insulting. And if they need to ask, who cares?

How is it rude?

Just like in law, ignorance is not an excuse.
They’re making fools out of themselves for not knowing the words and then, if they do, complaining that you used vocabulary they had never heard of.

Why would you assume they don’t know something? You’d look like an ass.

INEVIAMVIAM- Do you like Thomas Hobbes’s philosophies a lot? You sound like you’d side with him.

As for why am I defining them…
These kinds on a regular basis as what words mean, even ones I find fairly simple. I was thinking that I could save time if I just put pronunciations and deffinitions just in case so we can actually spend the time working on the presenation aspect.

Do it. If they already know the words, just downplay it. A lot of the time people know what words mean, but they don’t know how to describe the definition. You could pretend like the footnotes are only in case people ask, and they aren’t really sure how to describe it. That way, you have an excuse if they know the words, and you have back up if they don’t.

^ Good idea. I think I’ll go with that.

You could say you were defining them for yourself.

That’s a bit of a stretch. Why would you need to write them down - why would you even be using them if you weren’t sure what they meant?

Ya, I didn’t end up doing it at all. Good thing too. My group took one look at the packets and put them in their binder.

Death might be an option to this project.
As Lennin said, “Death solves all problems- No man, no problems”

^Lol, Lenin has quite wonderful quotes.

I agree with his bit about ethical egoism, not really at all with the bit about having a sovereign government that should be followed noooooo matter what - but I do agree with mostly everything that I’m sure you were referring to ;]

^ Yep, that’s what I was referring too. (I’m not too big of a fan of his government myself, but human characteristics, yes I do. Or at least I do a lot.)

I footnoted a whole essay once. It was for comedic effect, but nonetheless.

^ Wow. Want to post it? I want to see that.

Depends on your personality. If you’re known to be arrogant and condescending, then footnoting things may not be a good idea. Otherwise, if people can believe you’re geniunely helping them, do it.

Better yet, just do it anyway.
