Is this true?

If it is, is the scholarship a set amount? What is the minimum SAT score? can you use the ACT instead?

No, it’s not true. At least not at University of Rochester. There are no automatic scholarships.

Since the quote mentions “in-state residents”, perhaps the OP thinks UR is a public university (SUNY)?

We get that now and then–UR’s name sounds like it’s a public school.

I am not quite certain how current this is… but it was true for both my daughters when they applied to the U o R. If a NYS resident with a certain minimum SAT and perhaps GPA, you were awarded a minimum $5000 merit scholarship. My older daughter graduated h.s. in 2003, college in 2007 and my younger daughter graduated h.s. in 2006 and from the U of R in May.

I received a $15,000 scholarship, and I do remember seeing somewhere that Rochester gives this scholarship to students with a minimum SAT (somewhere like 750+ for Verbal and Math).

Sorry for my recent absence… This is an outdated policy. Though the University of Rochester used to offer scholarships to students above a specific SAT score, that is no longer the case. Our goal is to adhere to a holistic review process, and though SAT/ACT scores are an important piece of that process, they are not used as a baseline for any major decisions. I hope this helps to clear things up!

Thanks everyone! this helped alot.
