Is this unoriginal?

I know that the “I traveled to xyz country and learned xyz” is considered an unoriginal topic so I was wondering if my essay about traveling to Lebanon and getting caught in the middle of the 2006 Lebanon War is unoriginal. Thanks!

It is a very unusual situation, what matters is how you use the story to talk about yourself. My greatest concern would be that since you were a child, how you focus on your development since then and your present self.

I think that if you are a good writer, that topic could be very intriguing. It isn’t as if you are writing about the standard tourist-trap vacation; it sounds as if you got caught in a combat zone!

it could be a good topic.
