I was just wondering if this was weird or not because i think it is weird or very coincidental. I just transferred to a 4 year college from a 2 year and went to orientation in june. Im not very social so I only met one girl and only because she asked me about my head covering. during orientation they said we should get contact information of the people we meet so we could add each other as suite mates. since she was the only girl I knew I wanted to ask her about being suite mates but I couldn’t because i didn’t have the courage and ended up leaving without her contact information and only knowing the first part of her name from the half of her name tag that wasn’t covered by her hair. earlier this month on the housing website they put a list of all the incoming students names and I found out her name because she was the only person with a name spelled that way and I looked her up on facebook to add her as a friend and see if should wouldn’t mind being suite mates. She never responded to my request and I figured she just didn’t know it was me, forgot about me, or just didn’t remember my name although Im not sure I ever told her what it was since I never got her name either. just yesterday they assigned me 3 random suite mates and it turns out she is one of them. I was happy because It turned out well even though I never got the courage to ask to be her suite mate. but I also thought it sort of odd that the one person I meet at orientation would end up randomly as my suite mate. Is that weird? also will she think it strange that I sent her a friend request and then we ended up as suite mates?

It is kind of cool. You could tell her that you are glad that you have someone you have met before to be a suitemate. I would not make a big deal of it…she might think that is weird.

But do try to overcome some of your non-socialness…many new people are looking for friends too. Talk to people in your suite, in your dorm, in your classes.
