The more you pay in cash, the less you see the tip screen.
Sounds like my salon ($500 not including product), I always ask for the breakdown for the envelopes.
My hairdresser owns the salon, so she doesnāt get tipped regularly. I take her a small gift of some sort for the holidays. Sometimes cash, sometimes something else.
Iāve always been confused by this. My hairdresser is not an employee of the salon - pretty sure she rents the space, sets her own prices and she swipes my credit card on her phone. Does that mean she is an āownerā and I shouldnāt tip her? I always tip and usually bring her a small box of chocolates if my appointment is near the holidays.
Iāve found that folks still tip owners and most will gladly take it.
Iāve posted before that I donāt tip my hairdresser who owns the salon.
If cleaning people come ever 2 weeks do I give holiday tip as full amount of cleaning or half?
I used to give the whole amount.
I tip my hairdresser who also owns the salon. I asked once and she said that everyone tips her. So Iām sure it varies.
The prices are also inexpensive compared to what people pay in larger cities. I donāt tip on any product I buy.
I have always tipped the hairdresser (previous one and current one) who own the shops. The previous one had lots of other helpers she also got tipped (one washed hair, one did root touchup/color, sometimes one gave a hand massage, and then the one who cut/styled/dried my hair. ) It got very $$$$$
I start gathering bills a week or so ahead of time so I have exact tips
My last cleaning person came once a monthā¦and boy do I miss her. Her holiday gift from us was an additional full amount we paid her. She was that wonderful!
I tip my hairdresser who owns her salon. Gosh, she works so hard that I feel like I should. Sheās not getting rich by any means.
My cleaning lady comes 1x month and when I break down what I pay her itās about $75 / hour. I just donāt need that much cleaning but trying to find a housekeeper around here that will work for only 1x month cleaning is hard, they just donāt want to bother. I did just tip her 75% of what I pay her monthly, probably should have just doubled the payā¦but still a little convinced Iām paying too much. Iām seriously thinking of stopping her service and just having someone come in 2 or 3 times a year to do my baseboards, ceilings, high shelves, all the odd stuff I canāt get down to or up to to do.
I had a woman come over today to clean. She said her rate was $35/hour. Wow, she worked hard. I told her I was going to give her $50/hour because I appreciated her fitting us into her busy schedule.
She did such a good job Iām going to have her come once a month, at her regular rate. Itās a steal in this area.
The rest of the story: I didnāt realize who it was until I talked to her on the phone. She was a good friend of my sonās in high school. One time she had a seizure in our front hall and I called 911. Now sheās married with four little ones and is the only income earner in the house. Life is so hard for so many people.
I tip my hair stylist (30%). She is the owner of the salon.
The reason I tip my stylist āso muchā is she is less than half the price I used to pay, and she does a really good job. I usually donāt even have her blow it dry, so itās less than $35. (I think it may have just gone up from 31 to 33). Plus, she washes it herself, so I donāt need to tip the shampoo person.
Wow, it is well over $100 for a basic cut in my neck of the woods.
I got annoyed with the person who has cut my hair for the past 20 years. He has gotten too political and I find it painful to have to sit and listen to his take on things while he cuts my hair. I started looking for another hairdresser and most start in the $125-$150 range for a basic cut.
That is what I was paying $100 for basic cut at a franchised named salon (not top of the line but nice) and I thought it was ridiculous then. She did a fine job but the lady I go to now charges like $45 across the street from my neighborhood and does a much better job. She is the owner and I do tip her 20% and I did not think to give her any extra for Christmas. Ooops, just did not dawn on meā¦now, I feel a little bad.
I think you can tip in the app for SB
