Is top 10% of your class even good enough?

I know that people say that “as long as you’re in the top 10%” of your class, you are pretty much safe in admissions to top schools like Harvard. But is a 16 out of 330 really bad? To me it seems like it is, although it’s still top 5%. But I’m also half Hispanic and neither of my parents went to college (or high school, now that I think about it…lol)…

I’m just a bit paranoid…but I also think I’m going to end up being val or sal anyway because of my senior year courseload, but colleges only see my rank as of the end of junior year, yes?

I’d like an answer to this question as well.

top 5% is good…being val/sal is even better. Also, if you apply RD, then the college will see your 1st semester senior grades.
